OBITUARIES FROM THE CHESTERFIELD ADVERTISER, 1932 - 1936,
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA

OBITUARIES FROM THE CHESTERFIELD ADVERTISER, 1932 - 1936, CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA compiled by James C. Pigg. As the title suggests, this is the latest installment from Jim Pigg of obituaries from the Chesterfield Advertiser. Two earlier works covered the years 1892 - 1926 and 1927 - 1931. The format of this book, as with previous volumes in this series, is user friendly and very agreeable. Each entry provides the date of the newspaper; page number the obituary appeared on, the name of the deceased (bold face print), and the entire text of the obituary (not an abstraction). Not all deaths occurred in Chesterfield County, many references to neighboring counties of North and South Carolina are included. Usually these individuals had ties to Chesterfield County and had moved from the county earlier in life. As unusual as it may seem, there are several obituaries for Confederate veterans as well as references contained within obituaries to ancestors of the deceased who were among the early settlers of Chesterfield County in the 1700's. As with more modern obituaries, survivors are usually listed as well as details concerning the deceased life. Jim Pigg is to be complemented for continuing to make genealogical and historical materials available for Chesterfield County researchers. 2004, Soft cover, 150 pages, full name index (including maiden names). Price- $35.00 plus $4.00 shipping.  Order from: Old Darlington District Chapter, SCGS, PO Box 175, Hartsville, SC 29551-0175.
