Obituaries Published in the Darlington Flag Quarterly Newsletter

The following is an alphabetical listing of the obituaries and death notices that have been published in the Darlington Flag quarterly newsletter.  Each person is listed, followed by the year of their death, and the issue of the Flag in which their obituary or death notice appeared.  Single issues of the Darlington Flag are available for $4.00 each, postpaid.  Order issues from:  Old Darlington District Chapter, SCGS, Post Office Box 175, Hartsville, SC  29551-0175.  Please specify which issue you desire.  Two sample obituaries are presented below from the Winter, 1999 Darlington Flag:

Richard Dearman was born in Richmond, N.C., 25th March, 1783; removed when he was a child to Darlington dist., S.C., where he married Miss Margaret Davis, May 1st, 1807; joined the M.E. Church the same year, removed to Madison co., Ala., Jan. 1822, and to St. Clair co., March, 1827, where he closed his life 30th April 1849, in his 67th year. He was a father in Israel.  He had many children, all of whom became members of the M.E. Church:  some are in paradise.  Father D. served the church long and usefully as classleader.  Often when conversing on the subject of religion his soul was filled with joy and gladness, and the praises of God dwelt upon his tongue.
